Moonlighting

When I had children I quickly realized that I had involuntarily joined the Cult of the Child (coined by my BFF Janice). Boy, was she right. I would rather spend $50 on the kids instead of $5 on myself and the thought of anything other than that purple dinosaur swirling around my brain was almost impossible.

Making things "work" in the nursery and out were also a constant thought too. I hated the plastic diaper wipe container. It was always sliding off the top of the changing table, and it was ugly (say this last word as if you were listening to Fishbone). So I pushed the dino aside and oiled the gears and came up with the solution of a handmade mosaic box that would later serve as a Treasure Box for the kids.

We made one for Piper's (and also Finn's) Kindergarten teacher's granddaughter whom we hear after three years still loves to look at the myriad objects and just recently, last night, completed another for Finn's (and previously Piper's 2nd grade) 1st grade teacher's son. Every one helped out, including the lovely Tina. We had so much fun making them and the were received with such gratitude it was worth the had work.
