You Say It's Your Birthday!

Google beat me to it, but they did it so sweetly!!

Today is Ms. Baum's Birthday! Hopefully she is out on the town celebrating to her heart's content.

We have plans to work tomorrow, don't worry - late afternoon, so not too late Brooke.

And they lived happily ever after...

Hello All,

December 16th was a success. The terrific trio, myself, Brooke, and Rebekah, were amazing. A couple of setbacks, but we rallied and came out on top.

First, things did not go exactly according to plans, as things are prone to do of course. Upon arrival at Grove Isle hotel we gave the car to the valet who then drove it in to the garage and promptly broke it by putting the car into gear too quickly and breaking the cellanoid (which I am sure I am spelling incorrectly) so that the car was stuck in the middle of the garage and would not go in to neutral or anything else for that matter. My lovely husband and AAA to the rescue!!! Chris drove out to the hotel and brought me a new car to use and waited for AAA to come McGyver the car so it could drive home.

Then all those shots done, we hustled (in our replacement car) to the wedding/reception site to get more shots that we did not get the chance to take at the hotel because all the bridesmaids and groomsmen were at different locations. So we rounded them up and worked our magic.

Working in this industry is so great. You get to meet fantastic people. The Wedding Planner, Sandee, is one such person.

All in all we had a great time. We cannot wait until the next one, while hard work and long hours that usually run until the wee hours, there is usually CAKE!

Ah to be in Napoli!

Greetings,

This weekend Brooke photographed a beautiful beach wedding in Naples, FL. She was asked to capture the candid unscripted moments of the event. The weather was perfect and the guests were fabulous also.

In Love

Hello everyone,

Last evening during my nightly web searching (for advertising locals) I happened on a little gem of a site titled www.rocknrollbride.com. This site is amazing. Its author is amazing. Brooke and I are so going to advertise with them.

Unfortunately, they are located in the UK! But from what I can tell, the audience is global. So good for us!!!

Check it out. You will be a believer.

Moonlighting

When I had children I quickly realized that I had involuntarily joined the Cult of the Child (coined by my BFF Janice). Boy, was she right. I would rather spend $50 on the kids instead of $5 on myself and the thought of anything other than that purple dinosaur swirling around my brain was almost impossible.

Making things "work" in the nursery and out were also a constant thought too. I hated the plastic diaper wipe container. It was always sliding off the top of the changing table, and it was ugly (say this last word as if you were listening to Fishbone). So I pushed the dino aside and oiled the gears and came up with the solution of a handmade mosaic box that would later serve as a Treasure Box for the kids.

We made one for Piper's (and also Finn's) Kindergarten teacher's granddaughter whom we hear after three years still loves to look at the myriad objects and just recently, last night, completed another for Finn's (and previously Piper's 2nd grade) 1st grade teacher's son. Every one helped out, including the lovely Tina. We had so much fun making them and the were received with such gratitude it was worth the had work.

Ah Saturday night in your 40s

So Brooke is out on the town out in Wynwood, she will post later about that, and I am home with kids having movie night (dvds of The Muppet Show) and listening to Neil Young.  I do prefer this to Wynwood. That is the beauty of being 40+.

Chris, my husband, decided that he just really needed chicken wings. So I went out, which was really a big effort as it involved getting out of my comfy pants, to pick up the order.  On my way in to the store I saw this really tall, slender, beautiful, and most importantly, not run of the mill looking young woman. I immediately gave her my B.Baum card and told her that when she gets married I wanted to photograph her event. Piper, my daughter, was so shocked. "Mommy, you are not supposed to talk to strangers!" she says. Good girl P!  I explained to her that this was a different situation and that drumming up business must be done, even if it involves strangers sometimes.

So, if you are reading this, young woman from Wing Stop, remember, Brooke and I welcome the opportunity to work with you. Then I can tell my daughter we are no longer strangers.

Thanks Piper

Holy Rodiles!

533 Pictures Later...

To say that today's shoot went well would be an understatement. Around 7 we completed the first installment of the Rodiles promotional shots and at 8 we rested.

Remember these are not edited yet, but I am certain that you will agree, they are none the less amazing. Kudos Ms. Baumgartner!!!

They say it's your birthday Well, it's my birthday too yeah They say it's your birthday We're gonna have a good time

This past Saturday, October 29th, Brooke and I photographed, till the wee hours, a birthday party.  My friend hired us to cover her 50th. We set up a Photo Booth and also shot candids. There were costumes for the revelers to wear for the pictures. They had so much fun!

This is a great way to capture the memories of an event and also to create new ones. We were so honored to have been able to be the ones to photograph this event. Work like this is such a pleasure!
